Question: Confusion with catholic wedding vows?

My moms boyfriend claims that some were in the bible the wedding vows states that the wife/ husband shall take no one above their partner...not even their kids. is this true?

Dunno, but you probably should put your spouse above your children. i mean kids grow up and leave you, then all you have left is your spouse...

Yes it is. Many children died at an early age back then. You had a lot more children per family as there was no birth control. You had to rely more on your spouse.

Yes, scripture below proves it!!! The bible does state there must be a head of the household. As God is the head of the church, also must man be the head of the house. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; (Ephesians 5:23-25) Meaning NO ONE can serve two masters "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. " (Matthew 6:24) So NO ONE can be above the husband. As God's body only has one head, Jesus. That's the bible!!!

Who ever told you this has been given false information. The vows make no such claim and any bounds that are sworn to have to do with the fidelity of the couple to one another.
