I guess because he has to be sure that you will raise your child in a christian way. So maybe he thinks that if you were to divorce, the child wouldn't be raised right anymore. |

The Catholic church doesn't recognise marriage outside of it's own church therefore in their eyes you are unmarried, to prove that you will bring up your children as Catholic it first needs to recognise your marriage. Outdated and old fashioned but that's the Catholic church for you. You will need to go through your vows (and properly this time lol) and then go to church regularly to prove your committed, then he will baptise your children. |

The "Trinity Doctrine " is confusing you both. You must understand the significance of "baptism ". It is many things: 1. The application of the blood of Gods sacraficial Lamb, Jesus. 2. We are "buried with " Jesus in baptism. 3. We are baptised into The Body of Jesus. We "put on " Jesus. Rev 1:5 "Unto Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood. " Acts 2:38 outlines the "death, burial and resurrection ". Three steps to salvation: Repent= death, and be baptised, every one of you in the Name of Jesus, for the remission of sins = burial. and you shall recieve the gift of The Holy Ghost = resurrection to new life in Jesus Christ. Whoever has The Son has The Father also. Whoever has not The Son has neither. Jesus says: "I am the door ". He doesnt say He is the whole house, but you wont get into the house without going through "The Door ". There are places out there, where you can recieve baptism in The Name of Jesus Christ. Find one. May The Good Lord bless and keep you. |

You aren't "renewing " your vows, you are having your marriage validated by the Church, and entering into a sacrament. I don't know what RO means, but if you mean you were married by a justice of the peace, or in a civil ceremony, then the Church does not see you as being married. Legal marriage and sacramental marriage are two different things, and one can exist without the other. If your marriage is not valid, then you are basically living together, and the Church requires that you be "validly " married in order baptize your children and agree to teach and live your faith. |
