Question: What to do about wedding favors?
(Posted by: Kitty! on 2008-06-04 02:34:13)
My wedding is on August 9th of this year and I almost forgot about the wedding favors! Is it a traditional requirement to have favors? Will I offend my guests if I don't have favors at the reception? |

I don't think anyone will get offended. One thing I have seen a lot lately that is cheap, are little champagne bottles that you blow bubbles with. It's neat because everyone will blow bubbles as you and the groom walk by and they have a memento to hold on to from your wedding. |

I bought a bunch of little glass bottles online and filled them with M &M's I ordered in our wedding colors, it was really cheap and everyone loved them and it did not take long to get any of it in at all |

I don't think people will be offended. i had an idea of putting disposable cameras on tables for people and have them take pictures and ask them to drop it in a box when they leave. after developing you can send them some copies of the pictures with thank you cards. |

I don't think it matters and it isn't a long standing tradition in all countries, I know that it isn't in the UK. We just had little chocolate bunnies for everyone as it was Easter, which only cost £12 in total. Can you remember any favours you have been given at weddings? I think in general no one remembers and they are there to see you get married not for a favour which they will throw away! (or eat!) |

I don't think that guests will be offended if you don't have favors, but I think that it is a very nice idea and a way to thank those that have come to celebrate with you. For our wedding, we found picture frames that matched our very simple black and white invitations. They were originally $25.00 at Marshall Fields and were on sale for 3.00. We couldn't beleive our luck! I think that someone on the pricing floor probably messed up when pricing them! Some other favor/ gift ideas that I have enjoyed: A candy station with little organza bags for each person to fill. A small box with piece of candy at each setting. A votive holder at each setting with a lit candle during the reception. Try to get a favor that guests will eat/ consume or something that they would actually use in their home. Don't waste your money on junk! |
