Question: Would you dare to wear a non -traditional wedding dress?
(Posted by: LaDyBug on 2009-11-18 01:22:42)
When I think of a white dress, I think of a virgin. I know that's not the case, but.... yeah... just want to know................... There is an old poem about how the color of your wedding dress will influence your future: “Married in white, you will have chosen all right. Married in grey , you will go far away. Married in black, you will wish yourself back. Married in red, you’ll wish yourself dead. Married in blue, you will always be true. Married in pearl, you’ll live in a whirl. Married in green, ashamed to be seen, Married in yellow, ashamed of the fellow. Married in brown, you’ll live out of town. Married in pink, your spirits will sink.” - fount on the web I'm not getting married anytime soon...lol |

Of course. I hate white wedding dresses. They make the woman look like a great big ghost, all creepy white and pale. And too many women overdo it and spend wayyyy too much money and make the wedding all about the dress, the cake, the bridesmaids' dresses, and the superficial aspects of the wedding, not about the marriage. The older I get, the more I hate big weddings. |

That's just a silly rhyme made to discourage people from veering from the norm. there's also a poem about people born on certain days- Mondays child is fair of face, Tuesdays child is full of grace, Wednesdays child is full of woe, Thursdays child has far to go, Fridays child is loving and giving, Saturdays child works hard for his living, And the child that is born on the Sabbath day Is bonny and blithe, and good and gay. do you think every person born on monday is good looking and everyone born on a sunday is good? doubt it. Personally I think i would wear a variation of white like champagne or cream, most people look ridiculous marrying in a white dress, variations of it look better and less hypocritical and other colours look ridiculous to me. |

I wore a pink dress for my wedding. We didn't marry in a church, and we are both in our 40's. I would have felt ridiculous wearing virginal white, especially since my son was the best man. The color of dress you wear is your choice. Wear what suits you, not what society thinks you should wear. If they think only white is appropriate, then THEY can wear it when THEY get married. |

Its a dress, just a dress. If the bride wants to wear it then who is to stop her? The wedding is more then just a dress, its a commitment / start of a loving bond/ journey between two people that will last a life time... it's not a fashion contest. |

Should I ever decide to get married, I will definitely not wear a traditional dress. They are way too expensive and useless forever after. |

Wear whatever dress you want. Its your wedding so you should pick what you what to wear. Just make sure its appropriate, like don't show any cleavage. I'm sure you'll look stunning no matter what color you wear. Good luck! |

Traditions are just that.....traditions. Most of them were born out of superstition, some were born out of one person's or group's preference for something and others adopted them and it became habit and somewhat of a standard. You should wear whatever you prefer. |

I don't see what the big deal is. It is your wedding day so wear whatever you want! |

Absolutely! Whenever that special day comes for me, I plan on wearing an ivory dress with a turquoise (teal) colored sash to match my bridesmaids' dresses. :D |

Yes. I've been married for a while now and we had a medieval themed wedding. I wore jewel tones of green and purple with gold accent. I've never been a conventional kind of girl. |
