Question: Wedding band or engagement ring first.. post wedding?

I am getting married on 05/ 24/ 08 and my Fiancee and I are in a dispute. I say that the Band is supposed to go over the Engagement Ring and pointed outward to signal our Future together, while she states that the Engagement Ring is supposed to go on top (facing the tip of the finger) in order to "Protect " the Band. The Band in her opinion is supposed to be the closest to the heart. I was always told that just as a graduation ring is supposed to be turned around post graduation to symbolize your step into adulthood, the wedding band is supposed be on the outside for the future of our marriage. Which one of us is right?

Ummmm... she is. The wedding band is supposed to be between the engagement ring and her hand, closer to the heart. The wedding band is a symbol of your marriage, the engagement ring is just something us girls like to have. What you could do if she just has a solitaire for an engagement ring is you can get her a band for either side, then you can both be "right "

If I had to choose I would say wedding band above engagement ring. There are so many different interpretations of this though, that no one answer is right. So I think this is something you two will have to discuss and agree on. Above, below, or no engagement ring at all!

Your fiancee is correct. The wedding band is worn closest to the heart, because it symbolizes your marriage, and that is more dear to her than the engagement.

The wedding band is to be placed below the engagement ring therefore closest to the heart.

The wedding band is put on first, then the engagement ring is closest to the finger tip. The wedding band is closer to her heart.
