It's so hot in the car if they put their hand out the window it will at least cool off one hand, and bring in some cool air, and make them feel a little more comfortable

During cautions, a lot of lapped cars have to circle around and rejoin the pack from the rear. usually, the drivers use their hands to signal the lapped cars that it's clear to drive around them. this way, no one gets clipped when the drivers are weaving around to clean off their tires.

I think they are waving to the fans. Usually though they are signaling that they want to go to pit road. Sometimes he is telling the one that just cut him off that he is #1.

Its to stretch them and loosen them up after gripping the steering wheel also to let other drivers they are going to pit or its tell the other driver they are not #1

They are waving at their Moms?

They are signilaing Dale Earnhardt Jr, that it is Okay to go the the front as mandated by NASCAR. They don't want to get clipped by the 88 as they are weaving back and forth warming up their tires.

They`re telling the 18 car to stay away, they don`t want to get wrecked.

My grandson told me they were flicking their boogers at each other.

4 resons 1. To strech out there arm, as it can get kinda cramped 2. To get some air 3. To let others know that it is ok to go around, or that they are pitting 4. Waving to the fans. Most of the time it is numbers 1 and 3.

It deflects air into the car. The windows are shaped to keep as much air as possible out of the car, it slows you down. My semi's windows are like that so I do the same with my hand sometimes, when I'm not running my A.C.
