Question: Whose raping us of our hip hop culture?

You and I both know that Hip Hop doesn't sound the same anymore... so who is responsible?

Whoever invented autotune. And Lil Wayne & Kanye West for using it. And Soulja Boy & Pitbull for showing that sh*t rappers can be successful.

Lil Wayne tops my list.... Those artists that keep trying for that crossover-genre bullsh*t started it all.... Simples...well said.....Autotune....for f*cks sake...that sh*t has got to go...

U mean rap doesn't sound the same anymore? and ya know what, as mad as I am about it having been mostly terrible the last 3 years, this question is really really starting to get as old as autotune. Soulja Boy Gucci Mane TC3 Weezy-Present Wacka Flocka Flame modern Snoop Dogg Rick Ross sometimes Drake Young Money in general mainstream in general Edit: modern Black Eyed Peas (if you even still count them as rap)

Actually its the Record labels, the media outlets, and the Stans. The record labels make the garbage. The media outlets market the garbage. And the Stans (the ones who know no better) eat the garbage.

The American public--you people make shit rappers like Lil` Wayne go triple platinum. If Eric B was elected president in 1988, none of this shit would have happened. Many artists have taken to copying the Dirty South style, and (Lil Wayne especially) use really over-the-top musical production that sounds really lush, with all kinds of synthesizers and machines to hide the fact they got no flow. Really it sounds like progressive rock from the 1970's and 80's. So songs off the Carter 3, (the last lil wayne one I heard) sounds like there's a whole damn symphony of layered sounds and a whole squad of producers just to accompany a guy saying "Fly go hard like geese erection. " The South kind of took over hip hop in the late 90's or right around 2000, and at the time, the South had catchier, booty-shaking music where lyricism and originality wasn't so important. That isn't to dis the South. New York has always been more eclectic, moodier, and more serious in content. Dirty south music could be played at a fraternity party filled with drunk college kids, and girls would generally "back that ass up, " as Juvenile so uneloquently put it. Raekwon ,talking about pointing a gun at someone's mother, (although i love OB4CL) is NOT booty-shaking music. We're about due for a change, especially since about 2005, and the T-Payne/ Wayne/ Kanye School of Producing took over. It sounds like Enigma, that fucking synth-pop group of women from Sweden or Iceland. "Sail away, sail away, " like rap music from the future where only homosexuals and trannies make hip hop. Whenever music gets like this, someone comes along and strips it back down to the basics. In the late 1970's, when you had to have a Phd. in Music Theory to make a rock album, Punk Music blew up, and kids would just scream and play three chords on the guitar. The same thing is going to happen in rap. Instead of all this fancy production, something raw and unique will come out, just like WuTang clan did in '93.

The rappers themselves who have no life experiences to rap about, so instead add single claps and busy beats to their songs in the hope that no one will realise they are rapping about stores they have never shopped at and cars they have never driven.

Corporate America, Old Rich White Record Producers, Puff Daddy, About half of the southern rappers, 15 year old kids that don't now shit about music but make up 90% of the album sales so they dominate what gets played on the radio. Mtv, BET, I have tracked the exact moment hip hop was raped to this exact moment youtube.com/ watch?v= 4KIdTPS6LH4
