![Why do people hate and exploit hip hop culture when it is the most advanced form of music?]() |
Question: Why do people hate and exploit hip hop culture when it is the most advanced form of music?
(Posted by: RevolutionaryTies on 2009-09-14 20:52:49)
Ok my question is why do people hate hip hop and rap when, when hip hop is by far the most advanced form of new music(not including classical)Try to name of genre of music that has crossed more borders then rap.Try to name a music genre that is as complex and beautiful as rap(im not talking about toaday wack azz rap but old school). So if you do have a genre of music that you think is better, say which one and give me a reason. Please dont say "rap sucks cauz all it does is talk about drugs money and sex " cauz old rap was a beautiful form of music. see there u guys go saying rap sucks with no reason. this proves my point exactly |

I don't prefer rap or hip hop but i do occasionally like a song here and there. i do like more old school rap. and honestly the majority of the songs are about that...not all but most is. i'll give you a person who is better...david bowie <---you want to talk about advanced...you wouldn't know anything about that. :) |

I completely agree. People hate it because some rappers swear or use offensive language. Those people aren't listening to the lyrics though and learning the context that those words are being said under. Hip Hop is one of the most versatile forms of music now because they can cross so many borders into rock or pop and not be afraid to try new things out. |

How can I put this in words you'll understand, rap is crap, as far as I am concerned, rap is an acronym for Retards Attempting Poetry + I have my reasons, I just don't want to hear you pout, like you are already doing. |

Because they're ignorant and don't take the time to divulge the witty punchlines, the deep metaphors, and the puns and double meanings. From what I've seen, most rap haters think that the only rap out there is what they hear on the radio. They haven't taken the time to dig through rap's vibrant history and find quality music. 'Edit: Rapping stemmed off of the rhythmic story telling of griots in West Africa, meaning it's part of African culture. So to those people saying it sucks and all that, you're basically just brushing off a part of African culture. You're closing your mind which means that you're not even willing to consider that culture, which would be the same as non-white people saying "Fvck Independence Day " and what not. Edit 2: Y'all should listen to Lupe Fiasco. He's somewhat mainstream but I bet some of you who said Rap is Retards Attempting Poetry would not get the double meanings behind some of his songs. Mos Def is another great example for whoever mentioned it. If you listen to lyrical rap and still say it's pointless/ simple-minded/ whatever, then you're just not getting the double-meanings and metaphors and what not, which makes you look simple-minded. |

It isn't music. Music is theme; rap is repetition but has no long-enough theme, insufficient variation, etc. That makes anything else better. that is music. Thanks for asking. |

Rock, or more specifically, Metal. It's much more complex and technical. You've got at least 2 guitarists, a bassist, drummer, and a vocalist (sometimes two) and they all have to be synchronized with each other. Some guitar riffs and solos are very 'heavy' (like in Thrash) and every instrument requires skill to play and produce music (not just noise). Oh and not to mention music theory and all the notes and scales you need to memorize. |

IMO, Blues, classic rock, and metal are better because they are built on original compositions. Rap is based on sampling (stealing) from artists of other genres, or generic computer generated beats. You don't need musical talent to write a song on a computer. btw - I do like a few rap songs, I just don't think it requires any musical talent. |

First of all rap is not a song ,a song has to be sung and they are not singing and the music you are referring to is just miscellaneous noise created by the miss use of a record turntable and some big drums. The reason it is so popular is that anyone that can talk can do it ,if they have no class.Singing takes talent ,playing a musical instrument takes talent and putting them all together to make songs takes talent. Rappers have no talent ,they are just doing this crap because it is annoying and they love annoying people. It is advanced because like I said anyone can do it, it is nothing but rhymes and retarded looking gestures that are meant to insult people of real intelligence and talent, they are jealous of real musicians and that is their way of insulting people of intelligence. |
