Question: Why do rap/hip-hop artists try to call themselves rockstars?

At first, I thought it was like a joke.. Anyone have any opinions? It annoys me so much because they are the exact opposite. I'm asking this question because I keep hearing the VMA's commercial with Rihanna singing some song with lyrics like "I told you baby, I'm a rockstar. " Seriously? Lmfao. I'm laughing at you guys trying to defend it. Don't try to prove me wrong, you can't. (: Idgaf what you think I am stereotyping. I've seen this. Don't you guys have eyes? Or earssss at least. :P and by the way, I don't hate rap. :) I love underground rap. <3

It's because rap and pop don't require real talent so they act like they're in a genre that requires you to be good at playing instruments and singing. rap- talking fast to a beat pop-there is actual singing but it gets edited so much before the actual release. so they don't actually have talent. by the way, i love all the previous comments that act like theres any difference between pop hip hop and r & b and all the other types of music there are. it all sucks anyway. its not even music. you have to have someone playing atleast a few instruments and voice editors synths and computers don't count.

Obviously modern rappers only care about money, so they sing whatever it is thir justin beiber sized brain can come up with and obviously they hav no idea what rock is, they assume they are superior just cuz their celebrities and think they can call themselves anything and they have no respect for real music
