Question: Halloween haunted house - creating a glow room?
(Posted by: Call*Me*Jo on 2008-08-21 10:06:30)
I'm preparing for my upcoming Halloween party (I know it's early, but there's a lot of planning) I'd like to know the best way to convert a room into a glow- room for dancing, using black light. I'm thinking of using material as the backdrop, should it be light or dark? Can anyone recommend a good glow in the dark paint? I've already been to Michael's, but not the quality of paint I'm looking for. Thanks for your suggestions! |

Your background should be dark, that way what you want seen glowing will appear that much more dramatic. A cheap backdrop is black tablecloths from the dollar store! Also, you can use black spotlights, lamps, etc, but you can also buy black lightbulbs that screw right into normal light sockets, so you can convert all existing lights to blacklights for the party! (It's a good idea to keep on light regular, just turned off, so you have it ready if a safety issue arises) Novelty stores like Spencers usually carry some pretty cool blacklight and other unique lighting products. If you're near enough to a major mall, some (like West Edmonton Mall) you can check the directory for a store like Glow that is all blacklight/ glow stuff. IF you're over 18 (or 19, or 21 depending on where you live) adult stores or companies (like Passion Parties) usually sell glow-in-the-dark body paints. Hey, why not adapt products! |

Go to a dollar store and get some really cheap black drapes or curtains you will not want again. Go and find some glow-sticks of varies colors, pink green blue purple , whatever. Hang the drapes/ curtains over the walls make sure your actuall walls arent showing. Carefully cut open the top of the glow sticks and splatter them over the drapes/ curtains everywhere. Let them sit in the light for about 30 minutes and if you want go find some glow in the dark paint and do the same routine. Grab the blacklights you have and set them around each wall. After you turn off the lights it should look pretty great. But just incase you do this and everyone shows up and they suck, always practice with one glow stick, see how long the glow in it will last and see how good it looks under the black light. good luck |

For a Haunted House, if you want to use glow and dark stuff, use a glow in the dark bat and use invisible wires to make it fly, you can also use glow in the dark make-up to look like zombies to scare some people. |

Well just get dark drapes or curtains. and for the glowing part. use 2-3 blacklights depending how big the room is and use the glow in the dark sticks. break them and with a glove take out the glowy stuff in there and use it as paint. thats what i use. :D |
