Ok, here are some things you need to ask yourself to help you decide. Are your friends good friends? I mean what will they do if/ when you freak out? Will they be sweet to you and reassure you, or will they be mad at you and somehow think you are ruining the experience for them, or do they know how you will react and that's why they want you to go (so they can tease you and make it worse and see how scared they can get you)? If it's anything other than the 1st one, and you really don't think you will handle it well, maybe you should sit this one out. I had a friend who sounds like you and she went to a haunted house with a bunch of us, and the line was really long and there was no restroom, and one of the guys that worked at the spook house knew us and came over to us in the line dressed in his monster suit (I think he was a mummy) and scared us, and my friend got so scared that she peed herself and she was very embarrassed! I'm ashamed to say that we laughed, and thank goodness she was good-natured about it and got over it and we made it through the rest of the haunted house & nobody got upset or mad. If you have never been to one before, and you really hate being scared, I don't think it will be fun for you. There's something about the added element of you actually being touched by the monsters instead of just seeing them on a movie or hearing scary stories that makes it a bit more intense. If you try to run as fast as you can through a maze in the dark, you are likely to get hurt or hurt somebody else. But if you can psyche yourself up and keep telling yourself that it's not real, it might help you overcome your fear. The trick is, if you can master it, to try to react as little as possible. The monsters go for the ones that scream the loudest. If you can somehow control yourself and have a low-key reaction, they will key on somebody else more hysterical and leave you alone. If they are really your friends they will understand whatever you decide and however it turns out. |
