Question: Are halloween decorations offensive?
(Posted by: flyfisherman_46 on 2009-10-30 10:48:13)
I have Always decorated for halloween, thanksgiving an Christmas, well I moved to a new town over the summer and this area is Ultra religious and ultra conservative. I put up my standard decorations, skeletons tombstones inflatables etc nothing gory or overly scary. In the last week I have had 4 different groups from area churches outside my house yelling that I worship the devil and all types of stuff. I tried to explain that they are just decorations and that I will also be doing thanksgiving and Christmas's but they are still bothering me I have called the cops but they said as long as they stay on the street and don't come on my property there isn't anything I can do, I'm afraid to leave my house because they could tear my stuff up. Has anyone else had this problem or seen anyone else have it? |

I think that the best move to make would be to put a pentagram over your door. |

Yikes, what a bunch of weirdos. Kindly explain to them that you don't tell them how to practice their religion, and if you did, point out to them that they'd be pretty upset about it. SHouldn't they "love thy neighbor " too? |

I never have had that problem, but I have a large Thor's Hammer on my front door. You'd be amazed how many people mistake it for an inverted cross and therefore avoid me. The neighbors who know me absolutely adore me. The ones who don't are TERRIFIED and avoid me as if I was dancing blood-covered and naked through the streets sprinkling small pox and swine flu cooties on anyone who crossed my path. Since there are eight Heathen households in this immediate neighborhood who all also have the Hammer on their doors (we're slowly buying all the houses and taking over), a lot of the fearful ones no longer come outside except to leave for work, the market or elsewhere. Fine by me. Cowards. *snert!* I agree though - you need to move. There's a house up for sale up the street from me, but it's too small for a Heathen household, so we won't be buying that one. California has lovely weather, too. ☺ |
