Should i try out for semi pro football?

Question: Should i try out for semi pro football?

(Posted by: on 2010-01-07 20:51:43)

I'm 5'11 ", 188..and slow...maybe a 4.8 on a good day...didn't play in HS or college, I'm only 19...I want to play safety...I played alot as a youngster though, and a lot of the friends I played with now play D1...The thing is, I know I can play with these guys in this league, I just need coaching and training. If I could practice and get used to playing, I even feel like I'd start by the time the season starts...Its a non- profit league so I'm thinking the competition cant be amazing, and I'm in Colorado, I just want to play ball and hit some people you know? I'm just worried because I have no experience on an organized team and I'm slow..don't want to waste money on equipment and not mak it...please respond, thanks The risk is spending hundreds because you have to have your own equipment.

Go for it bro. I had a similar experience of not being interested in sports until after high school which was pretty inconvenient. If you enjoy doing something, do it. Its not about being the best, just doing what you enjoy. Go ahead and be competitive but don't just focus on that aspect of the game. You will get in better shape, have fun, and make friends. And if you are slow, hours and hours of running and lifting weights will help that.

What do you have to lose? You would probably had a better shot if you did play in HS.

You keep calling yourself slow, but contrary to popular belief... running in a straight line 40 yards wearing track spikes and barely any clothes doesn't match up against football speed. Sure it helps, but if your running a straight line your either scoring or trying to hawk someone down. (Unless sometimes playing man-to-man) If you're slow at reading your keys and reacting though, then you're football slow.
