I would wear a half T-Shirt under my shoulder pads to prevent rubbing. Equipment today is so much different and better so there maybe some padded T-Shirt available. The bottoms have definitely changed. Always wear a jock strap with cup. Protect the boys. In my day, we had the simple strap with cup holder. Wearing underwear over them was optional. Our pads were a belt that fit around the waist providing side and tail pads. We often called them girdles, but they are not related to todays girdles. Out pants had pockets for thigh and knee pads. Today, they make compression shorts that you can wear as under garments which contain the cup holder. Some even have side and tail pads as well as thigh and knee pads. Some refer to this as a girdle today. So all you pretty much need is your uniform. I notice a lot of NFL players today only wear the strap/ cup and no underwear. Many do not have any padding at all. High School and College have rules requiring pads. To answer you question, wear something under your shoulder pads and make sure you have strap and cup. The rest depends on the equipment that is provided. The sequence you dress is logical. |
